Christina Aguilera: 'I Embrace My Body' Through Aging and Motherhood

People Magazine on Christina Aguilera, Published Oct. 16, 2012

She’s taken her knocks, but Christina Aguilera remains defiant on the subject of her body – saying she loves everything about herself as a mother in her 30s.

“Some people are afraid of change and [feel] that getting older is a bad thing, but I really love maturing and gaining wisdom,” the 31-year-old pop star, Voice coach and mother of son Max, 4, tells PEOPLE. “And the experience of being pregnant and having a child and seeing what a woman’s body can do is amazing.”

If you’re going to be a hater, so be it – it won’t faze her.

“I’ve always been one to make it very clear, love me or hate me, take it or leave it, this is who I am,” she says. “I embrace my body, and I embrace everything about myself. Coming full circle is a celebration of freedom and happiness because that’s what [my new album] Lotus is representing. I’m embracing everything that I’ve grown to be and learned to be.”

    • Palmer//Harding Strips Down June 18, 2013
“It’s easy to go to extremes in fashion,” Palmer//Harding’s Matthew Harding told Style.com. This is especially true in London, where crazed creativity and over-the-top theatrics are to be expected. But, best known for their strict range of directional men’s and women’s shirts, Harding and his design partner, Levi Palmer, a […]
    • Tilda, Tats, and Tailoring June 18, 2013
For Spring ’14, the top-tier bespoke tailor Timothy Everest and legendary Japanese tattoo artist Horiyoshi III came together to create a capsule collection. It might seem the meeting of opposite ends of the spectrum, but tattoos, laughed Everest at last night’s presentation in London, “are the ultimate bespoke.” As if to demonstrate, […]
    • LVMH Takes Us Behind the Curtain June 18, 2013
There are open-house visits, and then there are open-house visits hosted by LVMH. Les Journées Particulières translates literally as “Particular Days.” But in French it suggests a broader notion that encompasses heritage and rarity, making it a fitting title for Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy’s all-access weekend, during which i […]
    • Surf’s Up at M Missoni June 18, 2013
The new M Missoni Resort collection captured the free spirit of Venice Beach and its surf and skate subcultures. Pieces like a parka and board shorts featuring a cartoonish, street-art-inspired print (with little Ms tucked in throughout) were youthful and sporty, and an easy knit dress with cutout shoulders resembled ripped and frayed indigo. “We [...] […]
